Kurt Komyati

Kurt Komyati founded the Firearms Education Foundation for Veterans of Alaska with a vision of creating a community where veterans and their families can learn, grow, and connect through firearms education, outdoor recreation, and mentorship.

 

Kurt served in the United States Army and has spent years developing his skills as a firearms instructor, competitive shooter, and outdoorsman. His passion for responsible firearms ownership, hunting, and Alaska’s outdoor lifestyle led him to create a foundation focused on education, safety, and veterans helping veterans.

 

Through the foundation, Kurt is committed to providing opportunities for veterans and their families to gain confidence, build practical skills, and form lasting connections within Alaska’s veteran community.

Joshua Hendricks

Treasurer

Kyle served 4.5 years in the United States Army as an Infantryman, including a 9-month deployment to Afghanistan. Following his military service, he worked as a shooting instructor, Range Safety Officer, and outdoor educator with the Missouri Department of Conservation, helping new shooters and outdoor enthusiasts develop safe and effective skills.

 

An avid outdoorsman, Kyle enjoys camping, ATV riding, and exploring Alaska’s backcountry. He has been active in competitive shooting since 2018, participating in handgun and two-gun competitions before expanding into precision rifle shooting.

 

Kyle brings extensive firearms training experience, a passion for education, and a commitment to mentoring others. His background helps ensure that the foundation’s training programs remain safe, practical, and accessible to shooters of all experience levels.

Joshua Hendricks serves as the Finance Officer for the Firearms Education Foundation for Veterans of Alaska and brings 15 years of active-duty service in the United States Air Force to the organization. Originally from a small Midwestern town in Indiana, Joshua is an avid outdoorsman and hunter with experience ranging from big game to waterfowl hunting.

 

Having spent the past seven years exploring Alaska, Joshua has developed extensive backcountry and winter survival experience, including completing military SERE training in extreme subzero conditions. His knowledge of Alaska’s outdoors, wilderness preparedness, and hunting culture adds an important perspective to the foundation’s mission and community programs. Joshua’s experience, dedication, and sense of humor help round out the leadership team and strengthen the organization’s vision for serving Alaska’s veteran community.
